FALL BLOOMING: RK Kona Cotton Solids version

After I made the AGF La Vie en Rose version of FALL BLOOMING quilt, I started working on the solid version using Kona Cotton Solids by Robert Kaufman Fabrics. I think this was the first time I used so many browns in one quilt! I was worried but it looked really good on PC and I wanted to try the version. I didn’t regret it! It turned out to be what I wanted.

These are the colors I used to make a Small throw:
Salmon, Punch, Corsage, Saffron, Butterscotch, Watermelon, Foxglove, Sangria and Primrose, Gold, Stone, Amber, Latte, Biscuit, Roasted pecan, Cedar, Leather and Caramel, Ballerina, Ice peach
Dividing the fabrics is quite simple compared with other patterns I made in the past. The instructions include two versions, Scrappy and Simply Modern versions.
And the Scrappy version has two options. You can choose to use three colors (Option 1) to make one block or four colors (Option 3). I made the Kona Cotton Solid version with Option 1 and La Vie en Rose version with Option 2. These may not show much difference but I just could not decide which I like more, so I included both as options!

There are a lot of points to be matched in the block making. Make sure to use the pins to hold when you sew.

There were many trimmed triangles in two sizes after making the quilt top. I pieced them together and made HSTs as shown here. I thought of trimming the HSTs to the same size and make it bigger adding some blocks or play with the layout. But these looked good to me and I will make the cushion covers.
I free motion quilted this one on a BERNINA long-arm sit down model Q16. I did a simple Ribbon Candy quilting design and it was totally a meditation for me to repeat the quilting.
The Silk-Finish Cotton Thread 50wt #1057 from Mettler Thread worked wonderfully!

Happy Quilting!
